Saturday Painting Bench: Lots of 6mm Napoleonics

Hello and welcome to April!   The temperature has dropped about 12C today so sitting beside the gas fire writing this post sees like a splendid use of time.

Almost finished today on the painting bench are these four strips of 6mm Napoleonic Polish Uhlans, who will soon I hope be crossing lances with Russian Cossacks in one of the opening battles of the 1812 invasion.

The figures are from MC Miniatures, the brainchild of Marco Campagna of Genoa, Italy.  Marco’s 6mm strips are ideal for mass-producing units, and is my go-to for my current rules interest, LaSalle2, which requires four bases for each unit.  They have just enough detail to satisfy, but are simple enough to paint en masse.  I printed these on an Elegoo Mars 2 machine.   Hopefully done before I go to bed, and then they can report to the Basing Depot.

 Also recently hot off the Mars printer are these strips of Austrian grenadiers, also MC Minis prints.  These fellows will be getting blue trousers, just because the blue and white Hungarian uniform is such a classic look and should pop on the table.  It may be another week before these chaps are finished.

Saturday Painting Table

 

This Saturday I’m happy to report that my four German panzers, seen here on previous Saturdays, are now done and waiting their twenty minutes of fame in a subsequent post here, before driving to death and glory (most likely death) on the gaming table.

Today on the painting table we have the three Assault Group 28mm Spahis and three Foundry 28mm SYW hussars - no progress made on them this week because of the panzers were ahead in the queue.   I have some ideas on paint schemes and hope to crack on this week with these horse soldiers.

Also present are two 6mm resin buildings from Baccus that I am putting in the queue now that my Napoleonics horde has arrived (see previous post).  Some 6mm Adler figures run around excitedly  - the scale of the buildings to the figures looks right. I’m happy with that.

Also  just primed are two dangerous ladies for my Weird War Two project.

Saturday Painting Table

Here’s this Saturday’s paint table.   There’s a cup of strong hot tea on the left, my reward for clearing the driveway.  I predict I’ll have to blow it again tonight, as it has been snowing steadily all day and shows no signs of stopping.

Two projects to focus on today.   First, that group of German armour I’ve been working on for the last few days is almost finished.  They just need some pigment and some final weathering, and their decals, and they’re done.

The next project in the queue, three Wargames Foundry hussars to serve as characters in my SYW Russian Army, and the Spahi command group from The Assault Group, the next step in my Spahi unit.  Everytime I sit in front of these figures, I question them about their desired uniforms and colour schemes.  So far, they haven’t given me much to work with.

Saturday Night Painting Desk

I meant to do more painting than I did today but homework, plus a bumper crop of snow last night, had other designs on me.   Here’s a view of Appa the Volksbison, our trusty VW Westfalia, dreaming of warm summer road trips.

Now for the painting bench.  Quick and dirty photos tonight.

My Ottoman field gun(a Minifigs piece) is almost ready to be flocked, and the little ammunition box and bucket just need to be fixed up a bit.   This will give my Ottomans three cannon, and a fighting chance to hold against the masses of Russian artillery.  

 

Finally those three Assault Group Spahi are done and ready to be flocked.

15mm German tanks dirtied up after a black wash and ready for another date with the airbrush to get their cammo patterns, then the treads and some weathering and decals.

 

Next in the queue after these tanks are the PSC T34s mentioned in my last post, and then a unit of 28mm ACW Union infantry that have been half-finished for almost a year now.
