As James describes him, he is "Father Mikhail Petrovich, ready to bless the troops as they march off to defend Holy Mother Russia from the Corsican Antichrist. Or perhaps he's hailing a taxi?". I believe he is part of some mad Napoleonic project that James is up to. I am sure he will give Boney a good thumping and a long sermon. It's what I'd do. Thanks James@

A Namesake!
James Manto, owner of the wonderful Rabbits In My Basement Blog, mad genius behind Hot Lead (Canada's Finest Gaming Convention), owner of J&M Miniatures and my oldest and best wargaming friend (right, mate, I think you owe me at least $20 for all those plugs) was kind enough to name one of his painted figures after me.

How lovely is your friend MP! Nice work on the Assault Group Priest.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Helen
Helen:
DeleteI wouldn't call him lovely, but he's ok. I need to crack on and get my Assault Group big turban guy done. I should name him after James.
Nice mini indeed to celebrate a great friendship
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean we'll be seeing you with a big bushy beard from now on?
ReplyDeleteI'd like a big bushy beard. Had one in my hippie days. Alas, the army won't allow it. Even the sailors now have to go beardless because they say the gas masks won't fit. I don't think they had that problem in Nelson's day. Bloody safety rules.
Deleteha ha! Fran said he still hasn't got the t-shirt :0(
DeleteThat's a very god friend to have MP. And could be used for several periods and nationalities. Heck, he could even be used for pulp adventures.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, this blog gets a passing mention (but no link) in an article in Wargames Illustrated 300.
Thanks Tamsin. I was thinking of the pulp angle myself. In Max Brooks World War Z, one of the chapters is about an Orthodox Priest who becomes chaplain to a unit of the Russian army fighting the zombie horders. It's quite a grim chapter. Actually, in that book, ALL the chapters are grim. Anyway, I thought of him when I saw the mini. That wouldn't surprise James, he thinks I am obsessed with zombies. He won't laugh so much when the zed apocalypse starts.
DeleteThis blog is mentioned in WI 300? No kidding! I wonder if I can buy a single issue to see that. Wow. You made my day!
I meant to say zombie hordes, not zombie horders. I'm not sure what zombies would hoard, really, except possibly brains. I think they'd have trouble with the locks on the storage units.
Delete"Blahaslovien 'o Tsartsvo na Oichu e Sienu e Svatomah Duku..." Woops! My inner archimandrite took over for a minute! (Really, really bad phonetic Slovonic here. Forgive me.) Nice tribute figure. I guess you'll need a new klabok and rassa now.
ReplyDeleteKlabok and Rassa ... hmm, I think I saw them at the Fringe Festival last year. Hilarious. Or am I thinking of something else?
DeleteYou're thinking of something else. Think priest's hat and sleeved cloak.
DeleteBlack is very good on you, the t-shirt hasn't turned up yet, Ray said you asked!
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Bloody heck. I think that got mailed in early August before I went on hols. I sent it surface mail becuz I'm cheap, so no tracking number. :( Hopefully it shows in a few more weeks.
