I was hoping to have my 28mm Front Rank Russian SYW Dragoons finished last week and entered in the Painting Challenge on Thursday (my day to enter work in the Challenge). So close, but the thesis claimed much of my time this week. Hoping to have them off the sticks and onto bases tonight.
I hope your own work is going well.
Blessings to your brushes!

Very nice work! There is something about those big, burly Front Rank figures that is quite appealing. I am working on Napoleonic Front Rank cavalry at my painting desk now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. I do look forward to seeing your Front Rank Naps. All my Russian SYW infantry and much of the artillery were recruited from Front Rank's range of figures. The dragoons are part of a job lot of Russian horse that I bought off a fellow in California and are all FR as well. As you say, big burly castings and very satisfying to paint and put on the table. My only wish is that Front Rank would update its SYW range, which they don't seem to have done in ages.
DeleteThey do look rather lovely Padre. I look forward to seeing them finished on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI've also been stymied somewhat - I have got soooo close to finishing my first batch of 6mm ACW figures, but I won't be able to get the basing finished for my slot today :(
Thank you Tamsin. I find I have to just ignore the Challenge deadlines and force myself to work at my own pace and to my own standards. You have been prolific and have painted to a high standard. I look forward to seeing your Baccus figures when they are ready.
DeleteColourful figures, and a fine unit.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ion. The Russ dragoon uniform is very pleasing, even when painted ten times. :)
DeleteLook forward to seeing these splendid chaps based.
ReplyDeleteAlan
Thank you Alan. If I can get some good thesis revisions done after church I'll work on the basing.
DeleteExcellent. I am slowing painting some 15mm British Light Dragoons and I'm not sure how they are going to turn out.
ReplyDeleteCheers Mark. I want to see your finished cavalry. Is it for a AWI project?
DeleteIt's for Waterloo 200. Everything I do is for Waterloo 200 at present.
DeleteI see. You've just given me a terrific idea.
DeleteThey look great, the final result will certainly be superb!
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend, you're very kind. I just started following your very entertaining blog. I love your medieval figures!
DeleteGoing to be a fantastic looking dragoon unit!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rodger, I appreciate the encouragement. I'm liking the way they're shaping up.
DeleteLooking good Michael, in the point for next think for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael. They'll definitely be ready for next Thursday and a small points bump for me.
DeleteFine looking fellows Mike.
ReplyDeleteAdvance in review order?
Thanks mate. Either advance or, with the muskets gripped like that, they are preparing to dismount? It was fun to pose them in line like that.
DeleteLooking good Michael. I can imagine them cantering forward ready to attack seeing them lined up in that pic :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon. Hopefully they'll ride their Ottomoan foes down like dogs. :)
DeleteThey look fabulous! I'm sure they'll look even better on their bases.
ReplyDeleteThank you Martin. Hopefully you'll see them based on Thursday.
DeleteVery nice job on this wonderful uniform!
