Distance is a relative term really... given how many times the UK could fit into Canada or the US, and that is not taking into account population densities. Given how many shows are within a 2 hour drive of me- not to mention gaming acquaintances I guess I'm pretty lucky.

Cheers,

Pete.Pete.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06668389518826053090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6519665561624985779.post-64426292815174816522015-04-01T13:35:25.291-07:002015-04-01T13:35:25.291-07:00Some very nice pics Padre! All the games are Hotlead are designed for participation, the idea of a demonstration game seems foreign over here. Distance also works against us, being in a bigger country, though some folks cheerfully spend a day driving to and from HotLead. US wargames cons could be different, I've never made it to one of the biggies like Cold Wars or Historicon. Maybe one day.Mad Padrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00410143683610813671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6519665561624985779.post-62839141192115298462015-03-30T09:52:15.436-07:002015-03-30T09:52:15.436-07:00Great photos- always like to see convention photos...Great photos- always like to see convention photos- especially from the other side of the pond.

Cheers,

Pete.Pete.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06668389518826053090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6519665561624985779.post-13200098251427682942015-03-30T06:26:18.593-07:002015-03-30T06:26:18.593-07:00Ooops. :)Ooops. :)Mad Padrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00410143683610813671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6519665561624985779.post-39434515922857375012015-03-30T05:53:11.789-07:002015-03-30T05:53:11.789-07:00That would make more sense. There are also supposed to be order given at the beginning of the game that can only be changed by the CIC through couriers. Can be touchy. I still like the rules anyway.Grenzer Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07294380876807418037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6519665561624985779.post-90306192070091454512015-03-29T19:39:56.943-07:002015-03-29T19:39:56.943-07:00Some lovely looking games there - glad you had a g...Some lovely looking games there - glad you had a good time!Paul O'Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08611720164170399684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6519665561624985779.post-13174017183639095462015-03-29T18:10:34.339-07:002015-03-29T18:10:34.339-07:00Sounds like you had a great time. Glad to see you got yourself into more than one scrap.
As for Shako, the game is far too dependent upon luck for my tastes and units can be WAY too brittle. Bloody, very bloody. Units tend to spend more time in their boxes than on the table. Hard to have a Napoleonic spectacular if units cannot survive their first contact. Opposite from what I want in a Napoleonic game.

Thanks for sharing your convention experiences.Jonathan Freitaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07862373894196924886noreply@blogger.com
