My goal for my 15mm collection is to get a third platoon per force.
Your friend made an interesting choice, but I can't really imagine it up against late war Germans or Russians (!?!?!). Against a force of made up primarily of good infantry with medium tanks (PzIIIs and IVs, Stugs and Marders) it would do ok. IABSM allows for a Tank Killer card for independent operation of AT teams, or I allow them to operate when their platoon card comes up, on the theory that while part of a rifle platoon, the PIAT team would be made up of resourceful minded soldiers. In IABSM the PIAT isn't a wonder-weapon - only seven strike dice versus a Panther's 10 save dice, but if it's a side or a rear shot, you'll likely do some damage.Mad Padrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00410143683610813671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6519665561624985779.post-57488378100141266642014-02-16T15:35:51.518-08:002014-02-16T15:35:51.518-08:00A really enjoyable read. Splendid troops, though.

I have a friend who plays a Canadian force Italy/Sicily 1943-4 using the Flames of War rule set. Unfortunately his chosen time frame tends to make it not very competitive against later war Germans and Russians... In my view this would be no bad thing if he could build up, as you have, an opposing force that would provide some kind of balance. Having the one 'army' he's stuck with pick-up games and competitions against more powerful foes. (I don't play FoW myself, nor do I collect 15mm stuff, having invested so much time and money into my moderately large collection of 1/76-72 scale equipments and figures).

Mind you, my Germans have got a bit out of hand...

Archduke Piccolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15533325665451889661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6519665561624985779.post-28227098173101609872014-02-16T12:25:43.429-08:002014-02-16T12:25:43.429-08:00Very enjoyable read.
